More circuitry (reader submission)
posted @ 11:05 pm in [ Reader Submissions ]
Thanks to Alfred for the submission:
Just taking the opportunity to add to the Circiut City issues. I also was a paying customer that ended up wishing the business would go away. A few years back I took in a Ford Expedition I used to own. I paid them 500 dollars cash to get an alarm with a remote start, two way pager, you know, the works. I also purchased some sub-woofers on a credit card. Like every service business, the never failing first frustration is their inability to give correct completion times. I went back to the shop about an hour after their stated completion time and of course the vehicle was not ready. I called them back about an hour before they closed shop to have time to get my truck, thats when the “service manager” informed me that my truck was at the dealer getting rewired because they burnt out my electrical system. I found out that their lack to hire and or train qualified technicians cost them over 2 thousand dollars and an upset customer without a vehicle for 3 days. Because I believe to be a reasonable man, I understand that their isn’t perfection, so errors have to happen. Thats why there are compensations and clearly Circuit City will not hold up their end to fix their mistakes. Reasonably it should have been a natural response to put me in a provisonary vehicle and maybe a discount on my product for the hassle. I spoke to the store manager who was very defensive and jumpy. I then called the 800 number they ask to call to if you are unsatisfied, where I was being attended to by Bob Smith (yeah right)! I explained this lengthy story to him, then I was taken around in circles and explanations to where finally after about another hour of my time I figured that I wasnt gonna get anywhere with my claim of horrible customer service. So does Circuit City suck? Yes, you have my vote. -Alfred- El Paso TX
Angry Ken says: I thought my situations were inconvenient. Not having your car for several days is a huge hassle. They should’ve at least given you the alarm for free.
Also, I have yet to hear back from Circuit City, other than their generic email saying that someone from the local store would contact me. Right!

Paul Daugherty is a d*ck
posted @ 11:30 am in [ Sports ]
I don’t know about all the other sports fans in Cincinnati, but I’ve had it with Enquirer columnist Paul Daugherty. Check out his latest article:
http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060804/COL03/608040436/1007/col03
Simply put, the guy is a jackass. If there is ever a negative aspect when it comes to sports in Cincinnati, Daugherty will be sure to tell you about it.
So the Reds want to offer half price tickets and $1 hot dogs for the upcoming series with the Cardinals. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather pay half price than full for a ticket to the game. I also would rather pay a buck for a hot dog than the usual $3.50. Apparently Daugherty would rather shell out all that money. But wait. I’m guessing he gets into games free with his press pass, has the luxury of walking down to the stadium from his cushy downtown office at the paper (or his free stadium parking). Plus he probably makes more than enough money telling us what to think about our sports teams that it doesn’t matter to him what the costs are. What a d*ck.
Daugherty feels that we should constantly be embarrassed by our hometown teams. Two years ago, while the entire city was excited about the Bengals getting their first Monday Night Football game at home in 15 years, what was his editorial titled? “Bengals: please don’t embarrass us” Thankfully, the MNF guys ripped Daugherty on national television as the Bengals went on to beat the Denver Broncos in convincing fashion.
Not only does he think that Reds management shouldn’t be selling cheap tickets, he basically calls the fans babies for the reasons some don’t go to games. I personally, would go to every home game if I could, but even I didn’t really want to go last week with the hot temperatures we were having. We don’t all get to sit in air-conditioned media boxes at the game, Paul.
In case you didn’t notice, we DON’T live in New York, Boston, or Chicago. Our market is much smaller and the numbers dictate that accordingly. When the Reds show that they can win consistantly over a long stretch of time, the casual fans will come on a regular basis.
As for the discounts this week, don’t ruin a good thing for the fans. I think it’s a nice gesture by ownership, something you never saw from guys like Carl Lindner. If it gets some extra people to the park, so be it. Good business if you ask me.
So Paul, you can go back to Baltimore, and shove your baby rattles and bibs up your a$$. No one here would miss you.

Drunk drifting
posted @ 11:22 am in [ Movies ]
I knew it would be awful, and it did not disappoint. “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” was that bad. So bad that it was funny.
“The Fast and the Furious” (2001) had a decent, yet still slightly stupid story, but was entertaining.”
“2 Fast 2 Furious” (2003) was even dumber, but again, fun to watch.
“Tokyo Drift” was just f*ckin’ idiotic. I don’t know who directed it, but it proves that you don’t have to be creative or witty to make a movie. The dialogue was horrible, the story didn’t make any sense, and I wasn’t all that impressed with the driving scenes, or the cars. And they put a Nissan engine in a Mustang for god sake! That’s just not right.
I can’t remember the exact line, but it was something like “I can lose a car, but it’s worth it, to see what a man is made of.” Classic.
Nonetheless, I had fun watching and making fun of it. It was like Mystery Science Theatre (great show by the way).
I recommend this movie for a good laugh, or if you like making fun of movies while watching them with friends.

Gas prices make me angry

This has gone on long enough. M*er f**cking gas prices! I’ve had enough. The time has come for action. Only problem is what action. While all of us are being raped at the pump, big oil execs are leaning back in their offices lighting cigars with hundred dollar bills. I say bullsh*t. We must all make a stand.
Here’s the other thing that really bothers me. A few months ago, gas hovered a little over the $2 mark. Back then (again just a few months) this was considered high. Unfortunately, we’ve gotten so used to $3+ gas that we’ve forgotten what it used to cost. Unfortunately, this is going to keep happening up to the $4 mark and so on. Yeah, we’ll all get pissed when it gets up to $4, but after a while we’ll be happy to see a gas station advertising $3.60 a gallon. And it shouldn’t be that way!
I recently went from a 4-cylinder car up to a powerful V8. Now I have to fill up nearly twice as often. (And no, I would not trade for a smaller engine any day.) We should not have to take this crap, especially when there is no reason for gas to be this expensive.
So now what? Since my best idea is to hunt down the big oil CEO’s, dowse them in gasoline and light them on fire, I’m stumped. If only there was a way to organize a nationwide boycott of gasoline for like a week. But there’s always some jackasses that would fudge it up for the rest of us.

Circuit City Ciucks(sucks)
posted @ 3:28 pm in [ Uncategorized ]
A word of advice. If you’re ever going to get something installed in your car, like a stereo system or an alarm, don’t go to Circuit City. I had to learn this the hard way.
Most recently I had a car alarm installed. After two additional trips back to the place, someone who actually knew what they were doing fixed the damn thing. This wasn’t the first time I’ve had problems with them either. This goes back a few years.
Three cars; cd player, speakers, component system, subwoofers, alarm system, nothing was done right the first time. (This was back when I was into the whole car audio thing. Don’t really care about big loud subs anymore, which is why I sold them.) I guess I’m an idiot for going back each time. Nonetheless, I won’t be going there anymore. The people that work there are not all that professional either. When I walked in there last night, there were three guys just standing around, and they just kinda looked at me when I approached them. No “how can I help you” or anything.
The other day when I was waiting around for them to fix the alarm, I asked one of the guys if they didn’t carry Alpine products anymore, which are supposed to be top of the line.
His response was simply ”no”. I asked if there was any particular reason.
“We just don’t.”
Alright then, ass. This is the kinda crap that pisses me off. Employees that don’t even pretend to give a shit and are so unprofessional. I wasn’t even offered any kind of compensation or discount for all the hassle. I didn’t ask for any because I don’t like to be a dick like that, but they barely even apologized for the fact that I had to come back 3 times for something they screwed up in the first place.
Well I’ve finally learned my lesson. If I have anything further done to my car, I’ll be sure to do it at Best Buy. They know what they’re doing.
