One month in your home town feels like an eternity. This is especially true if you’ve been to every attraction in your town, or if there’s really not much to see. Spending one month in Chile is a whole different experience because apart from it being a foreign country, one month gives you just enough time to explore Chile’s best attractions. A diverse country, Chile doesn’t just have museums or historical landmarks as attractions. It also has inviting beaches, lush forests, and arid deserts among many others.
When you travel to Chile by plane, you will most likely land at Santiago which is the country’s capital. You might as well explore Santiago tourist attractions while you’re in the city. A bustling modern city, Santiago’s center is crowded by towering skyscrapers. They are some of the best city attractions that Santiago has to offer. Like many tourist destinations, Santiago also has a few museums which serve as attractions. Two of the city’s best museums are Museo de Arte Contemporaneo and Museo de Bellas Artes.
If you want to explore the best things to do in Chile, you’d have to leave Santiago city and travel to other parts of the country. If you head to the far north to Lauca, you can see llamas, guanacos, alpacas, and other local wildlife. Lauca is also home to the salt plains called Salar de Surire. An even better attraction is San Pedro de Atacama, the driest desert on the planet. Valle de la Luna and the El Tatio Geysers are two more Chile attractions you can’t miss. Another one is Ojos del Salado, the world’s highest volcano that’s located at Nevado Tres Cruces.
A number of travel blogs also recommend tourists to go to Vina del Mar. Vina del Mar is a city where you will find some of the country’s best beach resorts. Surfers are better off if they head to Pichilemu. Pichilemu’s beaches are ideal for surfing activities.

I recently booked a flight on Allegiant Air and had questions on why the price I was originally quoted was not the price that I actually paid for. I recalled there was about a $50 difference in price. I called to find out about this discrepancy. To my surprise, there was virtually no way to make a call to their customer service center. I was then advised to send an email instead; so I did that. When I finally received a response, I was told that I was being charged extra for the privilege of picking a seat, plus another charge for making bookings on an online basis. I was flabbergasted. I never thought anyone can make a case for charging more for picking a seat and for making bookings on an online basis. Usually, you pay less, not more, for booking on an online basis. At worse, the price of booking online should be the same for booking through a phone call. Plus, Allegiant uses a ‘bait and switch” approach in promoting their prices. Upfront, they tell you it’s one price and when it’s all said and done, you pay something more. It’s just not right.
I understand Allegiant will be offering Hawaii airfare soon. So I presume they are going to say that they offer cheap Hawaii flights, and when all is said and done, it is not going to be so cheap. Being from Hawaii, I don’t think this will be too popular with most people in Hawaii. Maybe some can’t see through this type of questionable way of pricing airfare to Hawaii as well as on airfare from Hawaii, but I don’t think it is going to be accepted by local people in Hawaii. It will be interesting to see if other airlines that offer Hawaii flights will respond to this questionable way of pricing and promotion.
