Angry Ken Relocating?
posted @ 12:40 pm in [ Random Thoughts ]

I have always been one of those people that really had no need or desire to leave their hometown, Cincinnati.  But the more I think about it, the more moving to a new town seems like a good idea.

Let’s face it.  The only thing I have here is family.  I have very few good friends here, no career here, and what looks like no future here.  The only things I would really miss are my family, the Reds, and the Bengals.  Other than that, there is nothing keeping me here.  And I find myself surrounded by alot of just plain shitty people that I need to get far away from.

So now not only do I have to decide whether to go or not, but where to go.  The main factor would be the job situation.  I can’t seem to find a good job where I am now, so it looks like I will go where the best offer is.  I definitely don’t want to end up in the middle of nowhere though.  Hopefully a suburb of a major city.  Kinda like where I am now.  I’d like to still be close enough to make an occasional drive back to the ‘Nati.

I suppose I have options.  The problem is I don’t know my way around any other place than here.  But I guess that’s all a part of relocating.  I like the idea of Indianapolis, Connecticut, or Florida.  Maybe I could find a good job in one of those areas.

I’m thinking more and more that moving is a good idea.  So many things have gone wrong here.  Maybe I need to start fresh in a new city/state.

Shitty people/jobs are in every city. Its what you do when faced with those unpleasantries that make the difference.

While deciding whether you’re going to relo or not, just remember that nothing great comes along without a certain amount of risk.

  2. Ken Says:

Yeah I know, but I figure if I get a good offer somewhere else I should consider taking it.

  3. Steel City Gal Says:

Well yeah, common sense would dictate that if the offer was good you should take it.

But you won’t get offers by simply talking about it…

  4. Ken Says:

That’s why I’ve been applying at places out of state. DUH

  5. Ken Says:

I’m sure you can guess the one place I will NOT be moving to.

  6. Steel City Gal Says:

With that attitude of yours, you should take any job opportunity that presents itself to you before they realize they’ve made a grave mistake. Ha!

  7. Ken Says:

HA…HA…haaaaaa. I could get a job at the steel mills…oh wait.

  8. Steel City Gal Says:

Smart ass…let me remind you that PGH is more about technology than steel mills now. That transition has been happening for about 20 years.

And let me tell you that my father works at a steel mill making 6 figures. Can you say that?!

  9. Ken Says:

If I was making 6 figures I probably wouldn’t have this website. Really? 6 figs? Nice.

  10. Steel City Gal Says:

    I wouldn’t lie to you Ken…

That’s why you should never assume anything about anyone…even steel workers.

If you weren’t such an ass, I may have asked you to give me a resume to forward on. ;-p

Dude, you know you can’t make any new friends… If you move, you’ll be even lonlier than you are now :)
And I think your geography is a little off… Conn and Fla aren’t “close enough to make an occasional drive back to the Nati”

  12. Steel City Gal Says:

Look who decided to make an appearance late in the day! Mr. Poon!

I am well aware of where Florida and Conn are. Plus Sgt, there’s this prick here named Luke that I need to get as far away from as possible.

  14. Sgt Poon Says:

Luke has ways of finding you wherever you go. Never forget that, and always keep an eye on your six.

  15. Ken Says:

I’ll punch you 6 times in the eye.

Raleigh NC is cool. Lots of jobs, lots of very friendly people. Rated #4 city id US for single guys. Think about it. BTW I like Cincinatti. Grew up not too far from there.
