Big Ben, big deal
posted @ 2:16 pm in [ Sports ]

I don’t really understand why people are making such a big deal of Ben Roethlisberger’s recovery from his mototcycle accident, particularly as it pertains to football.

I never for one second thought that this injury was going to affect him playing this year.  Most of his injuries were to his face, something which was corrected with surgery followed by rest in order to heal.  Why would he be expected to miss any playing time when the season starts?

It’s not like he broke his legs or arms or anything.  You know, something that would affect his mobility.  It’s great that he has recovered well, but I wouldn’t call it miraculous.

I am however, impressed with Carson Palmer’s rehab progress with his knee.  I think he’s on schedule to be back in time for the 3rd preseason game, or so I’ve heard.  He really must have worked his ass off this offseason to get back this quick.  Good news for us Bengals fans in light of all the other dumbasses getting arrested and suspended.  As long as we have Palmer though, I think we’ll be alright.

WHO DEY!

Ha! You are such a liar! I clearly remember you talking trash about whether he would be able to play this season or not. Now he recovers and IS playing and instead of eating your words you simply deny ever saying them.

  2. Ken Says:

I don’t think that was me though.

  3. Steel City Gal Says:

You may not think it was you but I know it was. My mind is sharp, especially when I am right. :-D

Men and your damn selective memories. Don’t try that with me my dear. After 8 years of marriage, I’ve seen all the tricks.

  4. zDom Says:

    ALL the tricks?

Hmmmm … (flips through Official Man Trick Book)

  5. Charles Darwin Says:

    Tricks are for kids

  6. IncrediBILL Says:

Personally, I don’t get the whole sports fan thing whatsoever.

Stop living your lives vicariously through others that aren’t worth the millions they get paid, get off your fat asses, and go outside and actually play baseball or football yourselves.

    Basketball sucks, big ben sucks

So playing sports is mutually exclusive from being a fan now? Wouldn’t it make more sense that the people who actually go out and play would want to watch them too? I for one very much enjoy watching athletes make spectacular plays that I can only dream of making. It’s more watching them do things I wish I could than lusting after their money, if that were the case, I’d watch the Apprentice.

  9. Steel City Gal Says:

Trust me zDom, I’ve seen ALL tricks at least once or twice. I’d look into getting a new book if I were you. ;-)

I don’t live vicariously through athletes. That’s what I am having kids for. Haha!

Sports is a way of life. Sports is MY way of life. Competition!

  11. nemesis Says:

and that is the best indicator of your stupidity level, and the fact you do retail..

  12. beantown Says:

For me sports is a way of learning new moves to practice while i play my level of sports. Gives me a more competitive edge. I love watching sports

  13. Steel City Gal Says:

I’m a chick and only play flag football so I can’t claim to divulge in this sport for learning moves. It started out simply enough as me looking at those nice asses as a young girl and turned into a way of life for me. The air smells different, the birds chirps get sweeter, and there is purpose to my Sundays during football season.

I truly feel sorry for anyone that doesn’t have that rush of giddy excitement at the thought of football season beginning. God I love this sport! :-D

  14. beantown Says:

Im a girl too and i have to say i only watch football for the tight bodies, but basketball, baseball, volleyball, Im all in for the love the game.

  15. Jodi Says:

Without sports, I would have nothing to watch on TV!

  16. SheilainHutch Says:

Hell, you have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to be female and NOT like football!!!

  17. Steel City Gal Says:

Looks like chicks may soon outnumber d*cks on this site Ken.

    Hehe.

  18. Angry Ken Says:

    I can only hope.

And I guess being sports fans is the “best indicator of our stupidity level.” Does anyone know what that means?

  19. beantown Says:

i think he was trying to say something smart but he’s so dumb he doesn’t realize he let us know exactly how stupid he really is

  20. Steel City Gal Says:

I just want to pat nemesis on the head and tell him there’s room for all types of people in this world. Even those with special needs just like him.

  21. beantown Says:

    LOL

  22. Brooks Says:

Actually Ken did not question if Ben’s injuries would threaten this season, it was me.

…and it shouldn’t be viewed as this great recovery and he overcame the odds because within a day of my posting it was written that Ben would be in for the season

  23. Steel City Gal Says:

Sorry Brooks but you can’t take sole credit for saying it. Kenny boy did as well as most non-Steeler fans.

I don’t consider it a miraculous recovery by any means but it was damn impressive. Gotta love those Steelers. :-D

  24. Angry Ken Says:

I don’t see how it is all that impressive considering the recovery required laying around all day. It’s not like he had to rehab anything.
