A Comment on Fans of the Cincinnati Bengals
posted @ 1:00 am in [ Sports ]

Now that war has officially been declared between the cities of Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, I would like to make one final point on the matter. Throughout the season, I have heard people refer to the Bengals as a bandwagon team with fairweather fans. This could not be further from the truth. Through nearly a decade and a half of losing, The fans have been there. Since I can remember, I have watched every game on the last 12 some odd seasons. And when the game was not televised, I listened on the radio, and so did ALOT of other Bengal fans.

While we did not sell out every game during the bad years, we still packed the stadium pretty well. Any team that goes through as long a drought as we have had is going to have lower attendance. But when the games here did not sell out, it wasn’t by much. Now that the Bengals are playing good football again, the stadium is packed to capacity every week. And since it seems that everyone that is not from Cincinnati hates the Bengals, I don’t know where the bandwagon label comes from. Some examples of bandwagon teams would be the L.A. Lakers, New York Yankees.

YOu can say what you want about the Bengals. But no one can call them bandwagon or say that their fans are fairweather. The people have Cincinnati have stuck it out through some really bad times. We deserve to finally have a winner.

I’m sure some jackass will come on here and counter everything I just said, but hey, that’s what this crap is all about.

War? Hardly. Now that the Bengals have proven themselves contenders you’re going to have to get used to what it’s like at the top. Every team wants to beat you, bad. Like the Steelers, you must relish that hate and turn it into the other team’s bitter loss. I must say I hate the Ravens more than any other team. The fans and the players are all obnoxious. In Cleveland, mostly the fans are obnoxious. In Cincinnati, your first playoff loss in 15 years was poorly recieved. Every team feels sad and looks for answers after a heartbreaker but to declare war, in a non-football, unsportsmanlike way, is just assanine.

I said that in more of a joking way. What I meant by it was that the Cincinnati Pittsburgh rivalry has been escalates. Now that both teams are contenders, it has alot more importance.

I agree with rocknroll I dont even see the bengals as a rivalry i am actually glad to see them win when its not against us. mainly that is because i feel sorry for them sucking for so long. i really only hate the ravens and the pats and really dislike the browns but other than that i’m ok with everybody else cinnci is like our little brother we like to see him succeed but when he gets alittle succes and think he can beat big bro we have to teach him whats what. so in conclusion you are the lovable loser and noone hates you anywhere just your ugly unis

Whatever our uniforms are awesome. Especially since we got the new ones a couple years ago.

    A few things:
Yes, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh has always been a rivalry if you argue with that you clearly live in neither Cincinnati or Pittsburgh or have your head shoved up your ass.

Also, I agree that the fans have been there throughout the years but you also have to admit that if it weren’t for thousands of fans giving up their tickets and the constant criticism towards the owners over the last 15 years, this beautiful season, the gift of Marvin Lewis, the first coming of Palmer and the AFC North Championship would never have happened this year.

    WHO DEY FOREVER!
    DIRTY STEELERS NEVER!

  6. bengals 2020 Says:

the reason I don’t see the bengals as a rivalry is because I don’t hate them granted I have only been in Pittsburgh for 5 years and really payed attention to the inner workings of the nfl for the past 7 or 8. so I conceed that maybe in years past the bengals were more of a rivalry, but living here and watching how the city got ready for the games against the ravens and even the pathetic browns it is just more than for any game (up until the second one this year) with the bengals. Maybe you guys veiw it as more of a rivalry because we were your super bowl for the past 15 years

  7. bengals 2020 Says:

and doesn’t WHO DEY mean essentially who is going to beat you in that case
    WE DEY

  8. Steeler in benGAL land Says:

God I am so sick of who-dey heads acting like this is a rivalry. The folks in the burgh as well as most of the players gove the BenGALS as much thought as they do any other team, maybe less since they have beaten you more than any other team in the NFL. That is why the GALS are able to sneak wins in every once in a while, the Burgh takes them too lightly.
Well. thanks to loud mouth, overhyped CJ, that has all changed. Now you are on the radar, and that will be bad for you. When asked, Big Ben said that the loss to the Bengals fueled the fire that became the world Championship run. Now, I don’t know about you, but an angry Steelers team, even a bad angry Steelers team, does not make me feel all warm inside as a BenGALS fan.
Plus, no matter what, you STILL have Mike Brown and he will find a way to screw up any chance at success you may have.
