Gas prices make me angry
posted @ 2:01 pm in [ Politics -
Random Thoughts ]
This has gone on long enough. M*er f**cking gas prices! I’ve had enough. The time has come for action. Only problem is what action. While all of us are being raped at the pump, big oil execs are leaning back in their offices lighting cigars with hundred dollar bills. I say bullsh*t. We must all make a stand.
Here’s the other thing that really bothers me. A few months ago, gas hovered a little over the $2 mark. Back then (again just a few months) this was considered high. Unfortunately, we’ve gotten so used to $3+ gas that we’ve forgotten what it used to cost. Unfortunately, this is going to keep happening up to the $4 mark and so on. Yeah, we’ll all get pissed when it gets up to $4, but after a while we’ll be happy to see a gas station advertising $3.60 a gallon. And it shouldn’t be that way!
I recently went from a 4-cylinder car up to a powerful V8. Now I have to fill up nearly twice as often. (And no, I would not trade for a smaller engine any day.) We should not have to take this crap, especially when there is no reason for gas to be this expensive.
So now what? Since my best idea is to hunt down the big oil CEO’s, dowse them in gasoline and light them on fire, I’m stumped. If only there was a way to organize a nationwide boycott of gasoline for like a week. But there’s always some jackasses that would fudge it up for the rest of us.

Comedic Ethnic Stereotyping: Why Can’t I?
posted @ 12:29 pm in [ Politics ]
If I were a minority, I would be able to say anything and everything I wanted. But no, I am white, which means I have to be extremely mindful of things I say and jokes I make when it comes to ethnicity.
Why is this? I’ve never really gotten a good answer as to why white people are not allowed to make any comments, even if it’s a joke, about any race other than their own, yet anyone who is anything other than white can say whatever they want about whatever race they want.
Comedians like Dave Chappelle and Carlos Mencia have hilarious shows with skits based on racial stereotypes. However, if a white person did the exact same show, it would be considered racist.
Racial and ethnic stereotypes are funny. I realize that there are definitely some things (derogatory terms) that should not be said by certain people at all, but everyone needs to just accept this and enjoy the fun that is poked at EVERY racial background. In my opinion, something is only racist if it promotes negativity/violence toward a certain group of people. This is why I feel that everyone, including white people, should be allowed to make similar jokes (as long as they make fun of themselves just as much).
I also don’t understand why Dave Chappelle got so upset about the “pixie sketch” he did. I thought it was one of the funniest things he’s ever done. Didn’t come off to me as being offensive. People need to lighten the f*** up and get a sense of humor.
Racism is no laughing matter. Stereotyping for the sake of comedy though is damn funny.

What’s up with Iraq? (reader submission)

Thanks to “Catahdin” for the submission.
Iraq….does anyone on this side of the world really care? …Com’on……how does any of this complicate or influence your daily routines? …be honest…it doesn’t. I’m sorry to say that as of late, I just tune the news out on anything involving Iraq. It’s mind numbing…I and others stated as long ago as three years, that this ‘toilet hole’ would collapse into a civil war. When are the ‘monkeys’ in Washington going to wake up and realize these barbarians are just that………….enough already!
Angry Ken says - Like I keep saying, we need to just blow everything up over there and take all the oil. Gas prices are ridiculous.

Let’s Make a Deal

With all the hubbub regarding illegal aliens coming in from Mexico to work and what not, I propose a solution to this controversy.
First of all, I have no problem with people coming to this country to work, as long as they do it legally and actually earn their money. To say that Mexicans are coming over and taking jobs from Americans is just not true.
So here’s what I propose. We have alot of Mexicans willing to work hard to make a better life for themselves here in America. Also in America, we have alot of homeless people who do not want to work, but instead beg for handouts on the street. A friend of mine was telling me a story about how the president of the company he works for was driving down the street. A man approached his car and asked him for money. The ceo asked the man if he could push a broom. The man said yes. So the CEO told him that he would give him a job, pay him $10 an hour, and he would have access to clean clothes and a shower. The homeless man declined the offer.
So since we have illegal aliens wanting to work and homeless bums that don’t, why don’t we make a trade. Allow immigrants to come to this country legally and find work, meanwhile have the homeless that are not willing to get jobs go down to Mexico. I would much rather have an immigrant with a strong work ethic come here to work than have a homless American that chooses to get by only on handouts from passers by.
Nobody is taking anyone’s job. You can’t steal something if that person doesn’t want it in the first place.

Shenanigans down at the old School Yard

Thanks to Brooks for his comments regarding UC:
There are some less than ethical things happening at UC right now. First is the suspension of Jihad (Muhammed) and James (White). According to NCAA rules the suspensions do not take effect until the start of the next quarter or semester. UC’s quarter did not start until today. The question now is why did the University do this? Well the answer is Mick Cronin. Mick was going to be offered the job at Ole Miss that day. Mike Thomas (AD) must have decieded to get this season over so they could hire who they wanted, therefore handing down an early suspension to our two key players. (Side note: they still almost beat South Carolina. That would have really been funny then!). Mick Cronin will be a great coach for UC and will being us back to the limelight in 2-3 years. He is a great recruiter and a great coach. We will be fine.
Second non-ethical thing on Friday, as Nancy Zimpher was interviewing at Northwestern to become the next President there. Her two year contract is up at the end of this year. Her lawyer cited that she has burned too many bridges here in Cincinnati. That previous comment makes sense because of the following: UC is in financial trouble. The endowment maybe the largest it ever has been, but donations are way, way, way down from where they should be. The new residental housing erected on Calhoun St., Stratford Heights, and across from the Medical college is at 20% occupencey. This low rate does not generate enough revenue for the monies allocated to cover the construction and now have all been dried up. The general fee has to pay for this construction. That is not good because UC must spend money allocated to run the University to pay for previous construction. This has led to a hiring problem. Nancy’s UC21 plan says to increase the level of education through hiring more renowned faculty. UC has tried this but is usually $15,000 to $20,000 too low on its offers to new faculty. This can only be attributed to a lack of funds.
It is my belief that someone within the Board of Directors wanted some dirty work taken care of so they hired someone who’d do that and then leave. If you stop and think about it, that makes perfect sense. Why would you hire someone to run a Division 1 35,000 student university with a minority population of 22% where it is the largest employer in the city and second largest employer in the state, whoes only experience is with a 5,000 student Division 3 university in the middle of Wisconsin? She has no experience with a university of this magnitude.
The University of Cincinnati is the largest employer in the city and the second largest employer in the state (next to the Ohio State University). With the firing of Bob Huggins, many of UC’s problems that he helped control have come to light. Bob brought in a great deal of money for the University through donations and media contracts. Many people in this city were educated here, their children where educated here, P&G (the second largest employer in Cincinnati) gets most of its employees from here, General Electric gets most if its engineers from UC, the list goes on and on. The effects are much farther reaching than just a basketball coach. It is the livelyhood of families that could be touched.

This is completely irrelevant to anything, but Michael Moore is a fat piece of crap. This guy stretches the truth more than his pants. I never saw his Farenheit 911 movie and I never will. Actually I might watch it for laughs (the other commentary anyone?). Luckily we haven’t heard much from this blowhard lately, and I hope it stays that way. Bush rules suckas.

Ya Gotta Love this Marine
posted @ 10:09 pm in [ Politics ]
Got this in an email;
As President Bush gets off the helicopter in front of the White House, he is carrying a baby pig under each arm. The squared away Marine guard snaps to attention, salutes, and says, “Nice pigs, sir.” The President replies: “These are not pigs, these are authentic Texan Razorback Hogs. I got one for Senator Ted Kennedy, and I got one for Senator John Kerry.” The squared away Marine again snaps to attention, salutes, and says, “Nice trade, sir.”
