If the Reds lose their next game, they will fall below .500 for the first time all season. In my view, this will signal the end of their season. I just don’t see them rebounding from a possible 7+ game losing streak, especially with everyone else making such a push.
I really hope I’m wrong. A couple months ago when the Reds were on another slide, I figured them to probably finish in 3rd or 4th in the division, ahead of Pittsburgh and Chicago. But they kept battling, and have managed to stay in the hunt until now.
The Reds really need to start playing with some urgency. I’d hate to see such a surprisingly good season end this way. But when you play the way they have as of late, they really don’t deserve to win the division or the wild card.
