What’s up with Iraq? (reader submission)
posted @ 12:20 pm in [ Politics - Reader Submissions ]

Thanks to “Catahdin” for the submission.
Iraq….does anyone on this side of the world really care? …Com’on……how does any of this complicate or influence your daily routines? …be honest…it doesn’t. I’m sorry to say that as of late, I just tune the news out on anything involving Iraq. It’s mind numbing…I and others stated as long ago as three years, that this ‘toilet hole’ would collapse into a civil war. When are the ‘monkeys’ in Washington going to wake up and realize these barbarians are just that………….enough already!

Angry Ken says - Like I keep saying, we need to just blow everything up over there and take all the oil. Gas prices are ridiculous.

  1. Loki Says:

No one cares about the middle east. Hell, I bet half the kiddos nowdays couldn’t find it on a map. And the entire oil corporation empire has been raping us for years. Nuke them all, I say.

  2. Random Reader Says:

i’m a lil more concerned about the mini pol pot hanging out in North Korea shooting off his bad missles brought to us by the same people who make parts for hot wheels.

  3. someone Says:

actually the government went over to get rid of the mess they had over in the middle east and to help to innocent people who have their lives threatened everyday! the president was right to send our willing troops over there and help out, and i am sure that if we were in turmoil like the middle east is that you would want other countries to help to get you free and in a stable country.

  4. Ken Says:

I agree. I am all in favor of the war because it was for a good reason. The liberal hippies are all full of crap.

  5. RockNRollSteelers Says:

Going to Iraq was a poor choice no matter how many time you blame the “liberal media” on bad press.

Now countries that hate us just as much that ACTUALLY have WMDs are mobilized and here we are bogged down “liberating”.

Fuck liberating those people. People get the government they deserve. If your government was headed by a murderous tyrant you wouldn’t just sit there and take it hoping for years and years that someone would come along and free you. NO! You would fight that asshole tooth and nail or die trying.

Listen to Random Reader up there. Kim Jong Il is testing nuke missles to reach LA and we we’re worried about Saddam because he talked a lot of shit. There are tons of tyrants out there but we have problems of our own!

Oh and about this post, the Iraq war may not affect my daily routine but I sure feel it in my head and my heart. Those poor bastards fighting a war on behalf of that numbskull in office. His approval is so low right now with no relief in sight, he’s going down as one of the worst pres’s in history.

  6. Random Reader Says:

They said the same thing about Lincoln.

The sad thing about war is you never really know the affect until 50+ years have passed. For all we know, this could have been the best idea ever. Its hard to say when all the actions still haven’t played out. All I know is, genocide is genocide is genocide, and killing a million Kurds just cause means you shouldn’t be in power. Ya know? The true mistake of this war is that they had to take a man out of power who shouldn’t have been left in power in the first place.

  7. IncrediBILL Says:

Considering those muslim boys in the desert are still pissed at us about the Holy Wars from the Middle Ages, I’d say they’re going to hold a grudge about this too.

Look how many years suicide bombers have been messing with Israel and they just don’t give up.

Brack for impact is all I can say.

  8. zDom Says:

I’m with Ken on this issue.

I think we need to bring back Imperialism.

Crush our enemies and take their oil! Repeat as necessary to keep gas at a $1.50 for my petro-glutton classic Pontiac ; )

It would be a lot harder for them to spit in our faces if they were trembling in fear.

  9. RockNRollSteelers Says:

    Bush = Lincoln. uhh, sure.

  10. Eagle Says:

    Parking Lot

  11. Steel City Gal Says:

HAHA RockNRoll! My sentiments exactly. More like Bush = Gomer Pyle.

  12. Random Reader Says:

I wasn’t saying Bush was Lincoln, I was simply stating they said the same stuff about Lincoln’s presidency. Ya know, despite our fondness of his actions now, the civil war was not looked upon highly and many people thought that the government was taking a role that it was not intended to have. I just find it amusing that everyone forgets how very unpopular all wars are… its like the farther away from the event we are, the more romantic it becomes. Anyways… thats my tangent.

  13. RockNRollSteelers Says:

It’s strange to refer to a war as “popular.” A war isn’t exactly my grandma’s potato salad. I don’t rave about wars at parties.

Think of wars as necessary evils. The fighting sucks but the outcome can be good. On the other hand, I’m glad my grandma made the potato salad and I’m also happy to be eating it.

You have to be sure the odds are in your favor to have a good outcome. You can’t take shitty potatoes and tell your guests that it’s going to be the best potato salad ever. You have to go find that asshole that masterminded the plot to fly jetliners into your kitchen and broke all your pans and split his ugly ass in two.

  14. Steel City Gal Says:

Were you craving the potato salad when writing that? It was so out of left-field to compare a war to salad so I am curious what made you come up with that…

And if the potato salad is that good, I want some. :-)

  15. RockNRollSteelers Says:

    Baby.. It’s the best.

  16. Steel City Gal Says:

    Don’t tease a hungry gal.
