I just wanted to say that I can’t believe the NFL did NOT fine Joey Porter after his comments about how the refs were “cheating” because they wanted Indianapolis to win the game. I’m not just saying this because I hate Porter either. Any player or coach on any team should be fined heavily for such comments. The NFL will fine a player 10 grand for wearing the wrong color socks, but they do nothing in this situation. Seems pretty gutless by the NFL. I guess now everytime there is a bad call on the field, someone is going to cry about being cheated. In case you missed it, here’s the article and footage of Porter after the game.

Thanks for the feedback Roberto. Glad to read that you are liking the site. Yeah, I have had alot of NFL stuff up lately because of all the playoff action, but I have some non-sports related stuff in the works, so keep coming back for more.

Do you condone fining players for wearing the wrong color socks? Furthermore, why isn’t the wrong colored socks an easy remedy? Go back in AND PUT ON THE RIGHT COLORED SOCKS!! As for Porter, who gives a shit? He’s a linebacker. He just played in one of the biggest games of his career and somebody shoved a microphone in his face. This is not a well-prepared statement from the Steelers spokesman. It’s a sweaty defenseman immediately after the game.
Not to mention- He was right!! I don’t know if you read about the NFL releasing official statements saying that they were completely wrong on overturning the Polomalu interception. Not to mention, countless other boneheaded calls during that game. To mention, it almost cost them the game.
Cry about being cheated? This isn’t conspiracy. This is full out admission from the NFL. This isn’t game 3 against the Arizona Cardinals. This is the Divisional Playoff against the Indianapolis Colts
You’re not….bitter….are you?

Yes, I actually am in favor on fining players who wear the wrong color socks. These guys get paid alot of money and they should be able to follow rules regarding uniforms. It doesn’t matter if Porter was right or not. The point is that no coach or player is allowed to criticize publicly any of the officials. Many coaches and players have been fined heavily for comments that were much less suggestive than Porter’s. It doesn’t matter if he was right or not. He just can’t say it publicly. I would expect any player or coach to be fined for such comments.

I was shocked they didn’t fine him for the following reasons:
1) He didn’t just say “It was a bad call”, he said the refs had an agenda to make one team win over another.
-and-
2) It opens the door for other players to criticize referees through the media.

Oh, my feelings are so hurt Steel City Whore. But at least you are laughing one way or another. And if I can make just one hooker smile, I’ve done my job.

Porter SHOULD have been fined. the refs had a very bad game and even if the NFL said it was a bad call poreters statements open too many doors and I am not talking about platers saying bad things about the refs I am talking about the suspiscion that the refs are cheating for one team or the other not just being dismissed as “crazy talk” or someone just being bitter this may allow that thought to creep into peoples minds from now on

I hate this beauracratic bullshit that everyone is sticking up for. Porter was talking some shit. Big whoopie doo. It’s the type of thinking that is ruining football. And by that I mean: the increased penalties, the fucking tuck rule, two games this year alone that almost broke the all time single-game penalty record, low hits, shoulder hits, late hits…the list goes on and on. I think its turning football into something it shouldn’t be: non-violent and close mouthed. Come on, Ken. I have a case atleast?
January 23rd, 2006 at 5:14 pm
You cannot judge a man by his comments made after an emotional game like that. We all say things in the heat of the moment that we later regret…right Ken??? You of all people should know that.
January 23rd, 2006 at 6:40 pm
I regret NOTHING! Maybe you can’t judge a man by his comments, but you can damn sure hold him accountable. He shouldn’t get a free pass because he was emotional. All I’m saying is that there is a written rule in the NFL that you cannot openly and publicly criticize game officials. He should have been fined. Not just because I think Joey Porter is a piece of shit. Anyone who said that should’ve been fined. It’s the principle.
January 23rd, 2006 at 7:55 pm
Ever gone over the speed limit by 5 mph and been pulled over and then gotten a ticket for it? It’s the principle. It’s bullshit. But its the principle.
Take your principles and shove them up your ass. If it was any number of the boneheads on the Bungles you’d say the same thing I am. Let it sink in and make sense because it fucking does.
Steel City Gal: Get a keg of Iron City ready because the Steelers are taking it to the fucking house this year!
January 24th, 2006 at 1:19 am
i am a steelers fan and i agree with ken just because it is on my team doesn’t mean i give him a pass i do think the NFL is getting a little fine and penalty happybut what porter said he should have been fined for if he had just criticized the refs i would have said he shouldn’t have been fined because they deserved it but he said they were not only favoring one team but were activly trying to give them the win and you just can’t say that
January 24th, 2006 at 11:11 am
Ifs and buts. He didn’t get fined, so it’s time to get over it.

Marcos: You’re damn right, the house is stocked with IC Light and ready for the big game. I live in Michigan, 40 minutes outside Detroit and it’s pure pandemoneum here. God I love this game.
