Blowing Smoke
posted @ 1:00 am in [ Reader Submissions ]

Thanks (I think) to Craig for this submission. But first, a note from Angry Ken: After reading this letter, I got confused. So I read it again. I was even more confused. Finally I did a little research to find out what the hell it was about. After realizing what the letter is responding to, I had to laugh. Read the letter first, then try to figure out what Craig is so angry about. You might have to google this one. I did.

Message: To you fascist bastards in Casabalas California,

You should be ashamed of yourselves. You have forgotten the faces of your fathers. How in this day and age people such as yourselves could have turned such a blind eye from your american roots is beyond me. Margo Arnold is obviously a product of your communist (ie progressive, left-wing, centrist) education system. Beyond your whorish Hollywood society, I do not see how anyone can come up with such an idea as to tell anyone that they cannot live their lives the way they see fit. Just because you do not approve, you have no right to tell someone else what they can, or cannot do.

I so want to mention a religious argument concerning how only God has judgement and man only should abide by love and compassion. But of course I will be ridiculed as a religous fanatic. I assure you I am not. I just am appalled at your flaunt of power.

I grew up believing in the American Dream. You have just taken that dream and dashed it into a million pieces. What would our fore-fathers think? What would the writers of the constitution think of your obvious Nazi like stranglehold on the freedoms of the citizens of your horrible little hamlet.

Wow, what is next? Will you start arresting people for not being polite? You have take the ideas of 1984 and brought them into frution. You are the city that in 20 years will be in the history books for begining the socialist downfall of America. I hope you are proud of yourselves.

Not everyone believes that you are the protectors of the people. You are NOT the ones we need to save us. Your arrogance will be rewarded with ridicule and poverty. NO ONE will move to your slice of Communist Russia. You deserve everything you get and I hope you smother in your own self loathing!

This is a letter wanting a more free and open America, free from people who are not afraid to be offended. Grow up and be an adult. TO Margo Arnold I say this, You have done a terrible thing. I hope you live to see the error of your horrid mistake. I hope you see what damage you have done to the greatest country ever to have grace the face of the Earth!

Did you figure it out? Now take a look at this.

All that about a smoking ban. These are the kinds of crazy bastards I’m talking about. Are you that upset that someone wants to be able to eat lunch without breathing in cigarette smoke? Go light up down the block. Now let’s hear what you think.

I agree with Ken. I have been on both sides (as a former smoker) and feel that the rights of those that don’t want to get lung cancer should outweigh the rights of those who are actively trying to get it and give it to others…
Go to your car or home if you want to smoke.

  2. steel city gal Says:

Oh my god. This man is a raving damn lunatic.

Smokers piss me off. I hate going to bars, casinos, restaurants, etc. and choking on the carcinogens that will eventually settle in my lungs. When your habit is directly affecting MY health, I do think the government needs to make regulations to protect the innocent party.

  3. Angry Ken Says:

This guy must really like to smoke! Imagine what happened when he found out that it was illegal to urinate in public.

  4. Cam Says:

OK. I too am a former smoker, but I have to say this is just ridiculous.
From what I understand about the story, and please correct me if I am wrong (I am sure you will), is… She had to arrive at the establishment, go into the place (where smoking is not allowed - indoors), get what she needs to get, and then go outside in a specific, public, open area. I too am not a big fan of smoky bars and did not smoke indoors, even if I was in someones house who did. Even on poker nights in a smokey garage, we would open the door. But she had to go out of her way to go to an outside common area, then complains about it? I am by no means a smoking advocate, but what is next? Will she try to get a noise ordinance passed because people were talking to each other in a public place and that bothers or offends her. She chose to be there and they share that space too. They were not violating her by being there first. It was her choice to be there.

  5. Angry Ken Says:

    Hey Ryan, you were right…

Talking or not being polite isn’t bad for your health.

  6. Cam Says:

    OK Yea right.
You just remember that the next time you are going off on somebody in traffic.

  7. Cam Says:

    Ok here is a thought.
It is bad for your health to get hit by a car. Will she want to outlaw cars because she wandered into traffic? Do you think she ever thought “Oh, I do not like that and I think is is bad for me, so I will not go around it”? Probibly not, considering she did pretty much the same as jumped into a swimming pool and got upset because she got wet.

  8. steel city gal Says:

She was in a PUBLIC place, therefore, all people should be able to enjoy that public place without inhaling second hand smoke. Period.

  9. C4 Says:

Cigarette Smoke killed 2 billion non-smokers in 2005.

I, personally, died from second hand smoke four times last year.

  10. Steel City Gal Says:

Have you all heard how in Texas they are arresting people in bars for being intoxicated to try and cut down on drunk driving? Another reason to hate Texas.

  11. Ken Says:

It’s True! I attended all four of his funerals.

  12. Craig McClellan Says:

he he, thanks for the input guys. I did write that in drunken fervor. Anyway, the reason I was so angry is that once you give government control over a part of your life, the natural tendancy is for it to take more and more of your freedoms. Now it is illegal for anyone to smoke outdoors ANYWHERE! People standing on the street corner cannot light one up. The next step will be outlawing them in the city. Too me it is just damn scary. So go ahead and agree with Ms. Arnold. The next time there is a law prohibiting something YOU enjoy, you’ll have one less person on your side. It is easy to poke fun at me but sooner or later they will come after you.

  13. Craig McClellan Says:

The outside world is a big big place. She couldn’t move upwind??!! Just cause she couldn’t sit near the window and flaunt her ass to the boys in the Gap, doesn’t mean she should hamper our rights!!

  14. David Pye Says:

I personally know Margo Arnold and I am seriously affended by the above statements. For anyone to call Margo Arnold a left winger is just inaccurate and awful. I can say without a doubt that Margo Arnold is the most evil fucking bitch I have ever met in my life. I will repeat myself: Margo Arnold such an evil bitch. But she is not a leftist at all, she is nothing more than a moronic nazi slut and this has nothing to do with smoking…

  15. Ryan Says:

Seriously David, how do you really feel?

  16. Candace Hanson Says:

I believe you guys who banned smoking is a bunch of stupid cowards. Why don’t you go after the real polluters - bus companies, trucking companies, etc. These vehicles puts out more pollution than 1000 smokers. Instead you go after the little individuals.

Both my grandparetns smoked and they lived long enough (into their 90’s) to rot in nursing homes, and not from smoking, from our disrespect for the elderly, and the poor care in those types of facilities. Though, none of us gets out of here alive, you f– idiots really believe my little cigarette is going to kill you any sooner than God has planned for you to leave this earth? I think that daily commute from D/T LA will kill you quicker than my casual cig after dinner OUTSIDE of an C/C eatery. Hey do something about that commute and traffic conditions -you cowards.

I will be the cute chick outside still puffing away, and I have enough dough to keep fighting and paying fines if I must. But YOU are NOT going to tell me that I cannot smoke a cigarette, or drink a cocktail if I choose to.

Please find better ways to spend your time and correct the horribles of living in this society, without taking away someone’s pleasures on this earth.

If you don’t like my cigarette smoke, then move your fat ass to another location. Would you like a smoke?
