NBA Playoffs
posted @ 1:26 pm in [ Sports ]

I know alot of you that I know don’t care for the NBA, but too bad.  You’re gonna read about it and like it!

Anyway, with three out of the four conference semi-finals series going to a decisive game 7, I figured it was time to evaluate each series and their key points, Angry Ken style.

Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Clippers:

I don’t believe either team has won back to back games in this series.  These are two very evenly matches rosters.  I’m hoping the Suns can close out the series at home.  They are such a fun team to watch and Steve Nash is just awesome.  I don’t really have anything against the Clippers.  They just don’t interest me as much as the Suns.  Suns 118 - Clippers 113.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons:

Never would have thought this would go seven games.  I Thought the Pistons would finish it in five.  I think we were all wrong on this one.  Win or lose, Lebron James has taken his career to the next level.  I would say that Cleveland had there best chance to clinch the series in game 6, but the way this series has gone, who knows what will happen.  The Pistons seemed to have taken their opponents a little too lightly.  Will it come back to bite them in the ass?  I really don’t want to try and pick a winner.  The Pistons’ experience and home court gives them a big advantage.  I’ll just say Pistons 92 - Cavaliers 84.

Dallas Mavericks vs. San Antonio Spurs:

This is what it’s all about!  The defending champs vs. the team looking to finally knock them off the mountain.  The way that I know this is a really good series is that before it started, I didn’t really have anything against the Mavs.  Now I pretty much can’t stand them.  The playoffs can make me really hate certain teams.  With the help of Mavericks owner and whine connoisseur Mark Cuban, I’m really beginning to strongly dislike this team.  I’ve never seen so much crying over officiating.  Dirk Nowitzki looks like he should be wearing a frilly bonet and carrying a rattle after a whistle blows against them.  The Mavs need to stop complaining about the refs and start playing ball like men.  If anyone should be complaining about the officiating it’s the Spurs.   The difference is that the Spurs have enough class not to throw a fit about it.  The kind of class Cuban proved that he lacks with his comments about the city of San Antonio and it’s Riverwalk.  I hope the Spurs fans let this jackass have it Monday night.  Spurs 112 -Mavericks 108.

Living in the greater Detroit area and not being a fan of the hometown teams, I was cracking up at the fact that the Pistons were thisclose to being knocked out by the Cavaliers. Detroit players and fans have been arrogant, cocky SOB’s and they deserved to be knocked off their pedestal. Alas, Detroit won in a nailbiter, so I will have to wait and see if I get my wish of seeing them crash and burn in the next series.
At least I have the Red Wings’ playoff demise to revel in.

If the Suns and the Spurs both lose, I will have no one left to root for in these playoffs.

  3. Steel City Gal Says:

Don’t root for anyone. Just forget all about the crappy sport of basketball. There’s always soccer or fly fishing. Ha!

  4. Angry Ken Says:

    Soccer? (shudder)

  5. Steel City Gal Says:

Soccer is actually quite entertaining to watch. And Mr. Beckham is reason enough for me to tune in! :-p

  6. Steel City Gal Says:

Looks like you’ll have no one to root for soon. The Spurs are out of it and the Suns won’t beat the Mavs.

On an unrelated note, I have a friend who is a Steeler fan and a die-hard Pistons fan as well. You can’t be both. You either love the city and the teams that play for it or you’re just a chump. Grrr…

  7. Angry Ken Says:

We will see about the Suns. But you’re right. I don’t care about any of the other teams. I can always root against Shaq though. I can’t stand that guy.
