I really want a new car. I’ve been fighting myself over whether I really need and if I can afford a new car right now. My car right now is aright, but not great. Plus it’s about 10 years old, makes funny noises, and stalls out at idle alot.
As if the decision on whether to purchase a new vehicular transport wasn’t hard enough, what car do I choose? I’ve narrowed it down to a few choices and I could use some suggestions.Â
Everything I’m looking at is just under $20,000. I doubt I could swing anything higher than that at this time. Also keep in mind that the color of choice is black.
Mustang V6 coupe - Eventually, none of this will matter because I plan to purchase a Mustang GT one day when I can actually afford it. But for now, I think a V6 model would be cool enough, as long as it’s a manual.
Subaru Impreza 2.5 - This is the cheapest version of the Impreza starting at around $18,000. It may be the low end Subaru, but it still has a 170+ hp engine and a pretty nice design. Plus a manual would probably be a fun to drive. The next level up has a turbo engine with 220 hp and some visual upgrades, but the price goes up to over 24k. I could almost get a Mustang GT for that.
Mazda 3s - This falls pretty close to the Impreza. 160 some hp nice alloys and fun to drive. Not always sure how I feel about the design of the car though. A little round for my taste. This makes me lean more toward the sleeker, slightly more powerful Subaru.
So those are my top 3 choices for NEW cars right now. I think the Mustang, even with only a V6, would be the the bigger attention getter. I’m open to all and any suggestions.

Go for the Subaru, you can’t beat their AWD.
June 19th, 2006 at 10:20 am
The low end Impreza doesn’t have AWD I don’t think.
June 19th, 2006 at 10:52 am
ALL Subarus come with AWD STANDARD.
June 19th, 2006 at 11:13 am
I stand corrected.

You hate girls who only date men with nice rides then say you want the Mustang because its the bigger attention getter.
Who’s attention are you trying to get? I would hate to see you trying to impress those women you loath so much…

Why must you always do this to me?
It’s no secret that I like Mustangs. All I’m saying is that people will notice a mustang more than they will a little 4 door sedan.

Only buy American. Don’t support the take-over.
Ford Mustang all the way.
You also may want to find a car that can run on a different type of fuel (E85 or biodiesel) You don’t want to be caught paying $3 for a gallon of gas when you could pay $2 for E85. I am not saying that will happen, but you want to make sure you have options in the future.
I think the Monte Carlo LS 305hp V-6 ($20,000) or the Impala LS 305 hp V-6 ($20,000) would look great in black and both can run on E85 and “shit and git”
You should also make your decision where you are going to live. If you plan on living in a big city with a subway system, you don’t need a car.

I could never not have a car. That’s a a hole I would not be able to fill. And if the Monte Carlo puts out 300+hp with a V6, I gotsta check that out.

I did nothing but help you recall previous conversations. You should be more careful what you say as I have quite the healthy memory.

Go for the pontiac G6. it has the attention grabbing body and design and for a 4-cylinder sedan the msrp is 16,990.
I friggen love this car.
June 19th, 2006 at 5:51 pm
It’s $16,990 for the value leader not the 4-cylinder
My bad.

“American-made” cars aren’t really American made anymore. The Ford Mustang is produced at a Mazda plant here in Michigan. My husband’s Ranger was built in Canada, and the steel for my Honda was produced at a plant in MI as well.
That whole B.S. about buying American doesn’t exist since I doubt any automotive is 100% U.S. produced…just buy whatever car you like and screw the people who tell you otherwise.

She’s right, and on the flip side, most “foreign” cars are built here, in the midwest, by Americans.
June 20th, 2006 at 11:43 am
I could always tell everyone I’m getting a Mustang on order for like a year and then say I changed my mind.
June 20th, 2006 at 1:12 pm
but no one would believe you either…
June 20th, 2006 at 1:28 pm
Why would you care what other people think that much to be deceitful?! Silly boy.
June 20th, 2006 at 3:07 pm
Get a bike and save on gas and the purchase price
June 20th, 2006 at 4:07 pm
Maybe I should just get a Harley. That’d be sweet.
June 20th, 2006 at 11:13 pm
Wear your helmet. lol
June 21st, 2006 at 9:55 am
Yeah! I’m amazed at how many dumbasses I see everyday not wearing a helmet while riding their crotch rockets. You’d think they’d learn SOMETHING from Roethlisberger.

Whoa!
June 22nd, 2006 at 10:09 am
You could also go for a Sonata V6 with 234 hp for under 20k…
June 23rd, 2006 at 9:07 am
Sonata has a very boring design in my opinion.
June 23rd, 2006 at 9:48 am
the new Sonatas? I think they look better than the Mazda and at least as good as the Subaru… But that’s opinion, that’s why we don’t all drive the same car! I just like the fact thay they have more power and standard options than any of the others…

Mustang!!!!
