Slow Day
posted @ 5:19 pm in [ Random Thoughts - Sports ]

In an amazing twist, nothing has yet to piss me off today. At least nothing I haven’t already bitched about. I’ve pretty much just been waiting for updates on the trade between the Indiana Pacers and the Sacramento Kings. It might piss me off if the trade doesn’t end up going through. Other than that I got nothin’. Suggestions anyone?

You want to know what pisses me off? After working a 12 hour day with a migraine, when I finally do get home my shithead dog chewed up my tax return forms. Damn that dog!

  2. CincySux Says:

Steel City Gal… how close to the actual city of Pittsburgh do you live? I’m just trying to place a possible attitude/accent to your name.

Hey hey this in AngryKen.com! Not a dating website!

  4. Steel City Gal Says:

I do not live in Pittsburgh. I live near Detroit. Most of my family lives back in PA though. So I have a true Yankee accent/attitude.

Ken: You are reading way too into things. He was asking a simple, honest question. Settle down tiger.

  5. CincySux Says:

Detriot eh? Man… you don’t even need to travel to be near the action.

I was figuring SOMEONE would say that Ken…

How about the fact that you are a dim witted Sports fan with no life. That SHOULD piss you off.

I am still trying to get good ticks to the Super Bowl. But if I cannot find some, I at least have tickets to the concerts going on. So I will be at all the pre-game parties. Other than that, I am driving to PA this weekend to get more IC Light and will host the party at my place. Very excited!!

So what kind of accent/attitude do you all think us Michiganders have?

  8. Steel City Gal Says:

Wow, I think nemesis is trying too hard to be a bad ass. But hey, online you can pretend to be anything you lack in real life.

  9. Ken Says:

But he IS a badass. Look at that name! NEMESIS! It’s scary and intimidating. I better shut down this blog right now before he makes fun of me some more. Wouldn’t want to become the latest victim of…..The Nemesis!

  10. CincySux Says:

I have to agree with Ken *shudder* it is a bad name.

Steel City Gal, I’ve noticed that those living near Detroit have a slight accent. It is something that reminds me of a Canadian living in Wisconsin. (if that make sense) That, and they all love Tim Horton’s. I have also noticed that they are generally bad drivers. There is one other thing I noticed, and I don’t know if this is inclusive of the region or just certain individuals, but they ad an “s” at the end of things… “Wal-Marts” “Kmarts” etc…

Why do I say this? My cousin lived about 10 mins (Deerbourne, Deerfield? I don’t know) from Detroit for probably 30 years. She just recently moved to the Pittsburgh area. I went up there a lot and these were just some of the things I noticed

  11. Steel City Gal Says:

CincySux: Well I have a lot of different accents. My husband was in the military and we lived in various places all around the world and I picked up a little bit from each. It cracks me up that you think we sound Canadian. I certainly don’t, but I am sure there are some that do.

Tim Horton’s is our Starbucks. I do not drink coffee nor eat doughnuts, so I don’t frequent that establishment, but yes, most love Tim Horton’s.

We are bad drivers. I won’t deny that. But Ohio drivers are worse, so that helps me feel slightly better. :-)

I think only certain individuals add an “s” to the end of things. I have never really noticed that before.

Your cousin must have lived in Dearborn. It is right outside the city. So now I must ask you, you are from Pittsburgh right? Because I think ya all have the craziest accents there. Every Pennsylvanian I know says “garsh”. But I like accents, they make a region and people unique.

So did you like your visits when you came to visit family? Detroit is a wonderful city and unfortunately gets a bad wrap. I was just there last night for the Detroit/Vancouver hockey game and they are really coming a long way downtown.

  12. Ken Says:

    goddam make it stop!

  13. Steel City Gal Says:

Wow, we woke the sleeping giant. About damn time!

  14. bengals 2020 Says:

garsh? who are we goofy i have never heard anyone under the age of seventy say “garsh”

it is individuals who add the s i knew a entire family from virginia who called them “wal-marks and kmarks” it annoyed the piss out of me

  15. steel city gal Says:

I go to PA a lot and I hear the word garsh all the time. And instead of pronouncing words like wheelbarrow, they say “whoolburrow”. It cracks me up!

I cannot stand it when someone says a double negative. That is my pet peeve. They teach you that in 1st grade damn it!

  16. bengals 2020 Says:

I am willing to concede that there might be some people that still say garsh and i just don’t notice. what really bugs me is warsh(wash) and yinze i am not even sure how to spell that because it is not a real word.

  17. steel city gal Says:

I forgot all about warsh! I hear that ALL the time! My mum in law has such a strong Pennsylvanian accent, it kills me! Hey, it’s better than using “ya all”. THat annoys the shit out of me.

  18. bengals 2020 Says:

how is yinze better than y’all that at least makes sense you all but what the hell is yinze it doesn’teven make sense

  19. steel city gal Says:

I have never heard yinze. Don’t know what the hell that means! So it cannot annoy me if I’ve never heard it.

  20. Angry Ken Says:

Why don’t we just all agree that you people talk like brain-dead hicks? “Hey Ma, look at dat pointy hairded little girl. Huyuck.” Yinze garsh warsh smarsh who gives a shit?

  21. steel city gal Says:

Hey asshole, what do you mean by “you people?” You wouldn’t mean that in a racist or discriminatory tone would you?

  22. Angry Ken Says:

I don’t even know what race you are.

  23. marcos Says:

I figured this would be as good a spot as any to mention that Chris Henry pointed a gun at police officers in Florida on top of his possesion charges. What a dumbass. He’s getting suspended.

  24. Ken Says:

Yeah Henry is such a dumbass. I ‘ll get to him later.

  25. CincySux Says:

I haven’t ben on here lately…because well…. it’s not worth it most of my time….

Steel City Gal: Yes I am from PGH. I have to agree with you about the accents here, altough I myself have never been accused of having an accent. I have been accused of using the word “gumband” instead of “rubber-band” though. Then again, that was by some fat asshole….

I did enjoy Detroit, it is different there. For the most part though, I did a lot of work when I came up and didn’t get to see the scenery too much. I did like the instant transition from going over eight mile….. slums to a nice business area.

  26. Steel City Gal Says:

CincySux: Next time you’re in the area, you need to get out and enjoy the city a bit more. Go to MGM Grand and Greektown. It makes for a nice evening!
