I know you’re all waiting for it. Either so you can agree with me, which you should, or so you can sit there and tell me I’m an idiot, even though you are. Anyway, time to tell you everything that went wrong in the Superbowl.
First thing wrong with it, Pittsburgh won. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start from the beginning.
I missed the national anthem with Aaron Neville, but I heard that it was awful. I didn’t really watch any of the pregame crap either. I don’t need to hear about Jerome Bettis’ life story growing up in the mean streets of Detroit for 6 hours. So I’ll go straight to the game.
The officiating was horrendous and clearly favored Pittsburgh. I’ll just make a list of all the bad calls that were made.
- Offensive pass interference which took a touchdown away from Seattle.
- Roethlisberger’s dive that was ruled a td when replay clearly shows that the ball itself did not break the goal line.
- A few holding penalties which were no where to be seen.
- Horse Collar tackle of Shaun Alexander which for some reason wasn’t called.
- A low block called on Matt Hasselbeck when he was trying to tackle the ball carrier who incercepted a pass.
- About a half dozen holding penalties that should have been called against Pittsburgh.
I know there are some things that I am forgetting, but that pretty much sums it up.
Despite blatant cheating in favor of Pittsburgh, I am aware that Seattle made some mistakes too. Mainly in clock management at the end of both halves. I never understand how teams can mismanage the clock so often. You just have to know that you don’t have time to screw around and at least have an idea of what you want to do when the clock is running down. The last play of the game was the worst. Instead of kicking a field goal, they throw the ball about 5 yards to the middle of the field with no hope of getting out of bounds. They also dropped too many passes throughout the game.
So as I’m watching the game and realizing that the Seahawks are going to get screwed by the time this game is over, I figured that maybe the commercials would at least be good right? Wrong. While there were a couple decent spots, like the magic beer fridge, the rest were sub par at best. One that stands out to me as being the absolute worst was the Diet Pepsi ad with P. Diddy. I absolutely hate P. Diddy or whatever the hell he calls himself this month, but this commercial sucked horribly. Why won’t Diddy go away? No one cares about him or thinks he is entertaining in any way. He is a dope and I wish Nasa would launch him into space and leave him there.
After two quarters of robbery were over the score was 10-0 on favor of Seattle. Oh wait, that’s right. The refs didn’t allow that, so the score was actually 7-3 Steelers.
Here comes the halftime show. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t all that good either. Mick Jagger needs to stop shopping in the juniors department. They did exactly what I thought they would. Played “Start Me Up”, followed by a song nobody knew, and finished with “Satisfaction”. They did get a good reaction from the crowd afterwards though. It was kinda weird to watch a bunch of 70 year old guys rocking out, but I’d take this over a cheesy pop act any day.
Second half was more crappy officiating which allowed Pittsburgh to win the game despite not playing very well. They made 3 big plays and that was about it. The refs took care of the rest. Steelers win, I don’t care. I don’t consider them the champions this year. The networks got their wish of a storybook ending by screwing the better team. Do I sound bitter? So what if I do? I hate the Steelers. They shouldn’t have won the game. They shouldn’t have even been in the game. To hell with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The watered down champs.

Well, on schedule as predicted here I am to prove you right…slightly. You’re not an idiot. You’re a prick. Keep self-medicating the gaping sore in your brain named “Kimo.” Apply a heavy dose of bullshit 10 times daily.
I hope the touchdown pass from Randle El brought back some painful memories when the Bengals got burned on a similar piece of genius.
See you next season.
February 6th, 2006 at 1:25 pm
I may be a prick, but it’s my website and I can say whatever the crap I want. And I honestly don’t know how teams can keep falling for that trick play over and over. It’s obvious what they are going to do as soon as they fake the first hand off.
February 6th, 2006 at 1:56 pm
Ken you’re not a prick, you’re right on target. First of all watching Mick prance around on stage dressed like a member of Menudo made me ill. He resembled a geriatric talent contestant performing at an old folks’ home. His movements were spastic, voice hoarse with age, and I bet he’s his biggest fan. That he can “perform” on stage only shows the miracle that modern medicine has bestowed upon him and secondly, the officiating during the game was appalling. That game was taken from the Seahawks and handed to Pittsburgh.

First I would like to say, what the heck was the pre-game show all about? That just sucked. Ms. Franklin and that other guy (I forget his name) needs to learn how to sing. They completely destroyed our National Anthem. I almost delcared war on Detroit.
Unfortunatly, all of the calls were correct. The ball barely crossed the plane, and even if it didn’t the ball would have been on the 1 inch line and would have 99% of the time led to a TD. All of the calls the refs made were correct, although sometimes a little “ticky tack” namely the pass interference call in the end zone. Yes conact was made and yes he did push off, but barely and instead of being 7 yards wide open he would have been 5 yards wide open if he hadn’t of pushed off. The no delay of game call later in the game when Ben called the timeout was very questionable as well. The clock had expired before Ben called the timeout.
The bottom line is the Seahawks had the first and most of the second quarter won, but they didn’t score. Too many opportunities were wasted and they didn’t convert. The Seahawks should have won that game, but didn’t because they did everything but score and that is really the only thing that matters.
Now we are on to next season and some things to note for the Steelers
1. The Bus is gone. Can you replace him? Not really
2. Last night showed us that Ben still isn’t a good QB, he threw 2 INT’s to a weak secondary. Ben does not have the ability to lead a team only manage a game.
3. With the last pick in the draft will they be able to keep pace with the rest of the division?
Maybe. Our division is tough. The Bengals showed that they can beat the Steelers. They have the winning formula, just need to work on the execution. They are also very young, and next year they will be better. The Browns are a wild card in our division. They have had many injuries this year and will have a lot of people coming back, combine that with a high draft pick and you have a good team. The Ravens… well dont worry about the Ravens. With those two factors I don’t think the aging Steelers can keep pace with this division. I would look for them to be in the mix, but at the end of the season look for them to be a close second or third in a very tight division.
Bengals 10-6 or 11-5
Steelers 9-7 or 10-6
Browns 9-7 or 10-6
Bengals w/o Carson 8-8
Ravens 4-12 maybe 3-13
With us playing the tough NFC south and what happened in the 2005 regular season you can’t really argue with those records
All of those standings depend on who plays who when and where.
February 6th, 2006 at 3:17 pm
That was the worst officiating I’ve seen in a long, long time. I thought Big Ten officials were terrible, but I see it’s just part of a larger epidemic of football officiating in general. After the Stillers-Colts game, Joey Porter ran his mouth about how the officials wanted Indy to win. Why isn’t he crowing the same line following last night’s poor excuse for a game? Because, as many of us already know, the guy is a classless individual.
Anyway, let’s hear it for the real MVP of Subpar Bowl XL - Referee Bill Leavy! Didn’t I hear him say, “I’m going to Disney World,” after that phantom hold call in the third?
February 6th, 2006 at 5:27 pm
Brooks: The Steelers aren’t aging. They have a predominently young team and will be back in the hunt next year, mark my words. The Bus will be replaced, and if there’s a god, it will be by Shawn Alexander. Ben is a second year quarterback and has shown poise in some of the biggest games. Being in his first Super Bowl with all the hype and media attention did get to him. His nerves were rattled, but that does not give him an inability to lead a team. He will get better with age and has a great supporting cast of players who will help him in that respect.
BitterLee: The game was handed to Pittsburgh by the Seahawks and no one else.
February 6th, 2006 at 7:52 pm
Welcome to Football Dreeeeaaaammwooooooorrrrrrlllld where Brooks is KING and nothing is as it seeeeems! See within the walls where Carson boasts bionic ACLs and Kitna doesn’t suck! Be dazzled as the Bengals go undefeated in 2006 and the loooooowly Steelers struggle to beat San Fran and Houston. Ever since Roethlisberger got cancer of the everything and Hines Ward got encased in Carbonite how looooooong will it be before Pittsburgh crawls out of their hole? 10 years? 20 years?! 50 years?! 100?!?!?!!?………….
Welcome to the real world: The Steelers just won the Superbowl and Carson’s out indefinetly. See you next season.
February 6th, 2006 at 11:13 pm
As everyone in the stadium BUT Stevie Wonder could see, Rothy did NOT cross the line until AFTER he was smashed and defeated on the ground by DD Lewis. That is when the official called it a touchdown, and that is when it crossed the line (not before). Unless they changed the requirements for a touchdown in the last week then there was no score. Yes it would have been 4th and an INCH, but even if Cowler went for it who is to say that anyone would have crossed the plane that time either? The Bus was broke down… So I feel that the drive would have ended in a 3 point kick for Pissburg at best.
This would have helped lift the Seahawks to play the way the have been all year instead of making them dwell on the fact that they may have had “the 12th man” in Seattle but Pissburg had the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th in their pockets hiding in black and white jerseys.
I mean come on, who calls a quarterback for an illegal block when he is the only one that made the tackle against the guy that just picked him off? The tackle was “too low” they said afterward, does that mean that when Rothy took down whoever that was for the Colts to save the Broken-down Bus’s ass in the AFC championship game… then shouldn’t it have been the same call in that game?
Lets face it, even if there WASN’T an officiating crew at all in the game the Seahawks would have won the game. Sure they made their mistakes, and Jerramy Stevens made an ass of himself and didn’t really atone for it in the game with all those drops. The Hawks just played better football. But when you’re up against a team backed by the officials there isn’t a lot you can do. Pissburg certainly didn’t play well. So congratulations Pissburg how does it feel to have a Super bowl that was going to be yours no matter what game Seattle played? How does it feel when you’re doing your little kooky dance and shaking those ridiculous yellow towels of yours when everyone BUT you was left scratching their heads after every call? I bet it feel good to know that in order to get your Gollywood Ending the better team got robbed in the process.
February 7th, 2006 at 1:38 am
i agree that the refs were calling too much but to say that this was even close to the indy game is absurd the only wholly wrong call was the low block on hasselback (which the steelers were called for twice this year)
pass interference - it was the right call in the wrong game reg season call it play offs don’t
ben’s td - that was iffy but when it was signaled td there was no way you could overturn it the same was true if it was called down at the inch there was not INDISPUTABLE evidence to overturn it
locklear holding - i think it was a good call he had hands around his chest and on his back at the same time you can’t hook a guy if he beats you
horse collar - they haven’t called it all year unless someone didn’t get up alexander stays on the ground for a few seconds and they get the flag
low block - as i said before it was crap he went around the blocker instead of through him i which is what the penalty is supposed to be i think it is a crap rule and should be removed
pittsburgh holding - you can’t have it both ways man
travis the jerome’s play is completely replaceable this year he was just a goal line back that is not hard to find what will be hard to replace is his leadership others will have to step up for that. and you found a winning formula your defense couldn’t stop moon high school i could run for a hundred on you the only thing you do well is intercept we almost beat you when we turned the ball over four or five times. and the draft after pos. 15 is a crap shoot anyway we did pretty well with thirty last year. the browns winning nine come on and us dropping seven dude what are you smoking. also you winning eight w/o carson you’ll be lucky to win five
oh steel city gal don’t be stupid there is no way in hell alexander comes here we are five over the cap and we don’t sign big name free agents ever
February 7th, 2006 at 11:33 am
We won 8 with Kitna 2 years ago with a worse team. In case you didn’t see our division is playing a much tougher NFC division than the crappy NFC North (Who both the Bengals and the Steelers won this season).
Remember you all were 7-5 at one point and on the bubble for the playoffs and that was playing the crappy NFC North. This next season the Steelers will have a bulls-eye on their back getting the best of ach team they play and they will not have the same team.
The Steelers are an old team. James Farrior will be in his 10th season, Porter in his 8th, Kimo 13th, and whoever your center is will be in his 11th season.
Ben is not a good QB, although his rating is 103 he does is by throwing 150 yds/gam, 17 TD’s and 7 INTS for the entire season. Team leading QBs like Carson, Brady, and Trent Green all passed for over 200 yds./game, throwing for over 20 TD’s and less than 15 INTs and still received a passer rating close or above 100.
February 7th, 2006 at 12:18 pm
I hate when people say that Kitna sucks. He may not be a probowler, but there are at least a half a dozen teams he could be starting for.
February 7th, 2006 at 8:42 pm
bengals 2020: There isn’t a chance in hell we are going to sign Alexander. It was a joke, hence the part about if there’s a god we’ll get him on our team. Lighten up.
Brooks: There are some positions that are aging on the Steelers but they do a rock-solid job drafting and will be just fine.
I love it when people count the Steelers out and say they aren’t going to do well because as they proved this year, they flourish when they are the underdogs.
February 7th, 2006 at 11:41 pm
sorry gal i have just heard that alot recently and thoght you were serious it was starting to annoy me
we were 7-5 because ben was hurt for four games and about 70% for three others and he only throws that much because that is all he has to if we get a lead at the half we sit on it i don’t have the stats but i bet if you look up first half stats his are preety comprable to the top flight qb’s in the league
i don’t think kitna sucks he lit us up on occasion i don’t think he can win games for you he seems to be the type to not lose but not win games either and he is pretty old
February 8th, 2006 at 2:02 pm
I like how all of this is coming from Cincy fans and (what seems to be) Seahawks fans. I hate to tell you guys, but….
Cincy: 15 years since the playoffs, get there once and now you are “the shit?”
Seattle: a momentary blip on the radar. I mean, welcome to your first super bowl and welcome to making fools of yourselves. People hate constant whining more than bad officiating.
My point? Once you’ve climbed and equal amount of steps as the Steelers, you can complain.
Before this season:
13 seasons under Cowher, the Steelers have earned nine postseason berths, captured eight division titles, advanced to five AFC Championship games and made one Super Bowl appearance. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least eight division titles.
So… show me something nice like that and we MIGHT just acknowledge your presence.
February 8th, 2006 at 2:27 pm
Big Ben’s passer rating for the Super Bowl 22.0
If the 2006 season were to start today the Steelers would be $5 million plus over the cap.
you guys are screwed, eat a dick
February 8th, 2006 at 3:25 pm
We all know that if the roles were reversed and the calls went against the Steelers, you guys would be throwing a fit just as much, if not more so, than Seattle fans.
February 8th, 2006 at 8:31 pm
Brooks: If passer ratings were an indicator to whether games were won or lost, then things would be much different. But they’re not, so bringing it up just makes you look desperate and stupid.
It isn’t the start to the 2006 season and this isn’t the first year that there are salary caps and players being lost to free agency. I will reiterate that it’s nothing new and the Steelers will be just fine.
We’re not screwed, you’re ignorant, and if it makes you feel better to tell me to eat a dick, then so be it. I hope it makes you feel like a tough man to talk like that to a lady. That mouth must make your mother proud.
Bengals 2020: That’s alright, I’ll forgive you this time.
February 11th, 2006 at 7:04 pm
i completely understand why seattle wont stop whining. they lost their first huge football game ever. the officiating was not that bad. There was off. pass interference when Jackson pushed off. he didnt push off hard and it really didnt give him a “competitive advantage”. he shouldnt have done it, he made a mistake. as for the offensive holding: when you extend your arms out from the frame of your body to make a block, it is holding. dont forget about stevens and hasselbacks fumbles, either.
brooks are you forgetting that this is the second year in a row that we have been in the afc championship game? and we were in 3 championship games in four years? roethlisberger had a bad game. dont forget that peyton manning had a bad game, that tom brady had a bad game, or that jake plummer had a bad game. are you trying to say that they cant lead their teams? dont forget the three playoff wins that roethlisberger LEAD his team to victory. everyone has bad games. next point, last year we had the 29th pick. didnt seem to matter too much, did it? bettis only had 300 yards rushing he will be able to be replaced.
as for travis’s vat of word shit, you are retarded. the ball does not need to stay in the endzone for it to be a TD. it just needed to pass it. Pissburg? thats very creative. you are a loser. do you spend time coming up with these phrases? (by the way Pittsburgh has an H on the end, so it would be pissburgh) your stupidity is so overbounding i am surpised that you could write complete sentances. In conclusion, our Super Bowl win felt fantastic. i couldnt have been happier seeing that 75 yard run, Randle El touchdown pass or the Ike Taylor interception.
February 11th, 2006 at 7:19 pm
brooks: the more you talk, the stupider you look.
“ben is not a QB” and you, in all of your greatness, i dont think your qualified to talk. having a QB rating above 100 is pretty fucking good. considering he is in his second year, im quite impressed in Roethlisberger. are you saying that if ken wisenhunt (he’s our off. coordinator) doesnt call 40 pass plays a game, then roethlisber’s not a great quarterback? the statistic im more concerned over is the fact that he’s 25-4 as a starter and he was the youngest QB to LEAD his team to the superbowl. Brooks you are not “special” your fucking retarded.
February 12th, 2006 at 12:41 am
“Your” does not mean “you are”. That is “you’re”. It drives me nuts when I see someone on tv with at a sporting event with a sign that says something like, “Your in our house” or “your next”. My next? What does that mean? Let’s get it right people.
