A Checklist For Maine Weddings
Maine weddings are memorable events. To help prepare for this special day, many professionals have created checklists and organized events for bridal couples. Among them are statewide bridal expos.
For more than two decades, the Maine Wedding Association has been hosting bridal shows throughout the state. During 2012, they will be held in January, March and April in Portland, Bangor, Augusta, Auburn and Freeport. These expos feature more than 100 local and national vendors.
At the bridal shows, representatives from many areas of expertise will be on hand. Among them are videographers, tuxedo rentals, transportation, restaurants, photographers, make-up artists, caterers, jewelers, and printers (invitations). Exhibits will feature honeymoon travel, florists, personal trainers, decorations, ceremony officiants, candles, bands, and beverages.
The timeline many professionals suggest following includes the following components. About nine to twelve months before the event, attend bridal shows and visit potential venues for the reception and ceremony. In addition, begin to interview caterers, planners, photographers, and musicians.
Six to nine months before the event, begin honeymoon planning, open bridal registries, and choose guest accommodations. Also, visit florists, participate in cake tastings, shop for bridal and attendant gowns, plan rehearsal dinners, decide upon themes and color schemes, and select the ceremony officiants.
Within six months, purchase jewelry and wedding rings, as well as gifts for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Evaluate transportation options, including trolleys, limousines, horse-drawn carriages, classic cars, and decorated party buses. Also, decide upon hairdressers and make-up consultants.
Party favors and decorations should be purchased at least a month in advance. Many experts suggest incorporating elements that are native to the state. They include wild blueberries (state berry), wintergreen (state herb), white pine cone with tassel (state flower), the eastern white pine (state tree), honeybees (state insect), and the moose (state animal).
Planning a Maine wedding can be exciting, yet overwhelming. There are many resources available to help the bridal couple organize their ideal events. Among them are online planners, professional event coordinators, and statewide bridal expos.
