Travel in the Middle East
The Middle East has long been a place feared by western travellers. It has been deemed difficult to travel, busy and hectic, and most of all dangerous. But with so many amazing places in the region worth visiting I can’t imagine that the push of toursits into this region will last much longer. Countries like Jordan, Egypt and Turkey offer a nice middle ground to ease your way into the region, and destinations well worth your visit.
Jordan, home to the famous Petra stone city, has recently become very popular among the online travel magazines as the government has made a push in its tourism board to really build an online presence. As such, information about the country has begun to spread more widely, and misconceptions about what life is like in the regions are starting to disappear. Jordan has a lot to offer the western tourist, and people are starting to take notice.
Egypt, of course, has always been the Middle East’s travel hot spot. With the presence of the great pyramids how could it not? But what those who contribute to a travel magazine have started pointing out is that the great pyramids are not even the most incredible ruins in this country. The valley of the kings and the ruins in the south are even more impressive, and its not long before the travel world begins to catch on.
Turkey, however, may be the one of these countries that is the most on the rise. A common middle ground between the Middle East and Europe tourist have found comfort in this historically important country. From wandering the markets in Istanbul to going for a hot air balloon in Cappadocia there are heaps of opportunities for travellers to Turkey.
Look for the Middle East to begin to be one of the fastest rising tourism destinations in the world. With people warming to the idea of deeper more cultural travel this might be the place that sees the highest benefits.
